**The Boldt Company is searching for Estimators in several of our locations to provide estimating services for a variety of market sectors and contract delivery methods with the goal of creating estimates that return the planned profit to the company.

How your role fits into Boldt

The Estimator I will provide estimating services for a variety of market sectors and contract delivery methods with the goal of creating estimates that return the planned profit to the company.

Responsibilities include preparing, planning, organizing, and evaluating estimates, along with being engaged in the Target Value Design process to submit bids and responses to proposals. This position will be responsible for coordinating and oversight of internal and external estimating resources.

What you get to do:

  • Develop estimates and bids for construction projects.
  • Review proposal specifications and drawings to resolve scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Prepare self-performance estimates focused on productivity for a variety of scopes including concrete, masonry, precast and steel structures, and carpentry.
  • Perform conceptual estimates, ensuring proper documentation of project scope.
  • Prepare bid documents for internal and external clients.
  • Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current and accurate information on prices from suppliers.
  • Participate in the presentation of project estimates and budgets to project Owners and other partners.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key vendors and clients.
  • Partner with Risk Department to review Strategic Project Qualification (SPQ) to assess risk.
  • May review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
  • Work with the project team to finalize documents for proposals.
  • Support other department personnel as required, may include preparing estimates in other fields.
  • Other duties, responsibilities, or activities may be assigned at any time.

Requirements

What we expect from you:

  • High school degree or equivalent required; four-year engineering degree preferred.
  • Two to five years estimating, controls and/or engineering experience related to similar facility construction required.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, technical training and/or experience may be considered in lieu of outlined requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge of assigned field, estimating techniques and cost control, plus ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems essential.

Physical requirements and working conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position for up to eight hours. The employee occasionally is required to move to access people or workspaces. Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer. The ability to optimally communicate is required. The employee may occasionally move up to 15 pounds.

The working conditions of this position requires the employee to work inside an office environment. The environment for which this position functions may contain scents and fragrances. May be requested to work overtime and weekends.
