Description

Coordinator of Psychological Health Services for Student Athletes. Psychologist with generalist clinical skills. Emphasis of position is on treatment of student athletes at Counseling and Psychological Services. Adheres to practitioner-scholar model with emphasis on multicultural competency. Other duties as assigned.



Requirements

JOB DUTIES:
50% - Essential - Direct Services: Clinical
Provides clinical services to clients in individual, couples, group/workshop, and online formats with emphasis on treatment to student athletes. Conducts mental health assessments and makes recommendations for treatment modality. Generates/implements treatment plans from evidence-based approaches. Conducts psychological evaluations including administration/interpretation of assessment instruments as indicated by the presenting problem. Manages mental health screenings for athletic teams. Cases will reflect complex psychopathology including specialty areas such as substance misuse and disordered eating.

20% - Essential - Direct Services--Crisis intervention, consultation/outreach and supervision. Provides crisis intervention and emergency services on-site and through on-call system. Periodic on-call and after-hour duties. Engages in consultation relative to internal and external psychological needs. Conducts outreach to disseminate information about wellness, psychological issues and their treatment with emphasis on student athletes. Collaborate with treatment providers and staff members in the Athletic Department. Supports professional developmental needs of all trainees with emphasis on post-doctoral supervision of psychologist providing services to student athletes. Provides clinical supervision, as assigned.

15% - Essential - Administrative Duties: Program Coordination, Research and Training.
Serves as Coordinator of Psychological Health Services for Student Athletes. Takes leadership of program development, implementation and evaluation. Coordinates provision of psychological services to student athletes. Provides consultation on psychological concerns to staff in the Athletic Department. Conducts in-service training for CAPS staff and trainees. Provides appropriate training to staff associated with the Athletic Programs.

10% - Essential - Administrative Duties: Documentation and Case Conference meetings. Completes all clinical documentation in the electronic health record in compliance with the documentation time lines. Completes all necessary documentation to assist clients and as required by CAPS. Attends all case conference meetings. Attends CAPS Training Seminars. Completes all Redfern Health Center mandatory training.

5% - Essential - Professional Development:
Participates in all CAPS and Student Health Services (SHS) staff meetings and serves on RHC/CAPS committees, as well as committees within Student Affairs and the University. Attends Multicultural Seminar. Maintains psychologist license in the State of South Carolina. Participates in professional conferences and conventions at the local, regional and national levels. At all times, adheres to American Psychological Association's (APA) Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Ethics. Adheres to Joint Commission accreditation standards and supports maintenance of APA accreditation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - 1st Doctoral / Professional Degree in applied psychology from an accredited college or university and experience in the practice of applied psychology; Licenses - Psychologist; (Licensed or license eligible as a psychologist in the state of South Carolina.)

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Doctoral / Professional Degree in clinical or counseling psychology; Experience in working with university student population.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Doctoral / Professional Degree in clinical or counseling psychology; Experience in working with university student population.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
90% - Exposure to psychological stress

WORK SCHEDULE:
Standard Hrs: 37.5; Expected Salary Range: ($ 61,900.00- $ 80,000.00)
