Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund
(Action Fund) (collectively, the PP “national office”) seeks a skilled organizer to manage and coordinate issue, legislative, and electoral campaigns as a Regional Campaigns Manager. This individual will be a high-energy, skilled organizer who thrives in a fast-paced work environment, learns quickly, thinks on their feet with superior communication skills and a customer service attitude.
The Regional Campaigns Manager (RCM) reports to the Director of State Campaigns in the
Constituency & Campaigns team in the Organizing & Electoral Campaignsdepartment of PPFA and Action Fund. The Organizing & Electoral Campaigns department provides support to state and local Planned Parenthood affiliates and advocacy and political organizations (collectively, “local PP organizations”), cross divisional campaign alignment and implementation, and internal coordination in building long term organizing power to protect and expand access to sexual and reproductive health care and ensure that those most impacted by policy decisions have a say in those decisions.


    • The Regional Campaigns Manager (RCM) will work in partnership with the Regional Campaign Directors (RCDs), local Planned Parenthood affiliates, and within Planned Parenthood’s existing infrastructure to support the development, execution and amplification of strategic, grassroots campaign plans across multiple states.
    • RCMs, in close consultation with RCDs, constituency campaigns staff, and national office Directors, work on assigned projects at the affiliate and national level, and lead organizing and mobilization efforts to support national and affiliate campaigns. This role will work closely across the Organizing and Electoral Campaigns (OEC) department and with Planned
    • Parenthood local affiliates to ensure campaigns are well resourced, strategic, and successful.
    • This candidate should enjoy travel and be prepared to deploy on campaigns for several weeks at a time once travel resumes in 2022.


    • Support 2-3 RCDs at a time across multiple states in developing and executing campaign plans in partnership with local affiliates and PPFA National Office
    • Lead organizing strategy and execution in partnership with affiliate organizing staff and national staff including RCDs and Constituency teams
    • If assigned, RCM works with Training, Digital Organizing, Patient Advocacy Program, and Constituency Campaigns teams to build out the organizing strategy and tactics
    • Engage deeply with priority state organizing staff and provide ongoing support/check-ins with additional affiliate staff to help them develop their organizing and volunteer programs with an eye towards race equity & long-term powerbuilding
    • Work with affiliate/partner organizations to identify shared PPFA/affiliate goals, develop work plans, and secure agreement to identified deliverables
    • Participate in and direct campaign activities on the ground as needed, and assess resource needs (funding, tactical support on the ground, or technical support) for campaigns
    • Work as a team player in a high-pressure work environment
    • Contribute to national and affiliate development of comprehensive organizing strategies & long term planning
    • Coordinate and direct activities across teams which will include organizers, volunteers, and staff from multiple Planned Parenthood organizations and at times, coalition partners


    • Work together with the RCD to define issue/electoral/local campaign goals, strategy, tactics, targets on a timeline, and to pull in consultants/helpers as needed to refine plans with affiliates
    • Secure collaboration/agreement from affiliates in order to execute upon campaign goals
    • Create internal communications and reports on campaign activities including reports and presentations
    • Build the capacity of affiliates to create meaningful organizing programs to defend reproductive health care. General in-state problem solving at the organizer level
    • Assist in the development and on-site facilitation (if applicable) of national meetings including national trainings, conferences and events throughout the country
    • Adapt national office resources (technical assistance, training, coaching, grant support) for local, state, and regional use and influence
    • Assist in organizing peak moments & national days of action
    • Organizing affiliate participation for national events (Power of Pink, National Conference, etc) and coordinating cross-affiliate logistics & block grants
    • Ensure the successful implementation of the strategic plan by: providing campaign, organizing, and technical support; providing skills training; providing on the ground assistance and implementing the plan directly, if called upon; connecting the local PP organizations to appropriate national office resources
    • If assigned, serve as the owner of an electoral program: developing program strategy, managing budget, overseeing the day-to-day operations and execution of strategy
    • Support in managing rapid response efforts (paid calls, digital ads etc.) including long term coalition development work
    • Support RCD in day by day, week by week tracking and reporting of legislative updates in states and reporting out to the larger state fights team accordingly

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

    • Minimum of 2 years of related, advocacy and electoral campaign experience in organizing and management with demonstrable experience overseeing organizers and/or organizing programs.
    • Not-for-profit experience and/or coalition relationship experience is a plus
    • Ability to travel for weeks at a time to support specific, time-limited campaigns starting Jan 2022 (tentatively). Drivers license required.
    • Experience executing issue and electoral campaigns. Volunteer or paid campaign experience is highly useful and valuable
    • Strong commitment to meeting deadlines and showing progress towards goals
    • Experience creating and maintaining strong work relationships with a diverse set of colleagues. Must be able to motivate teammates who are not directly accountable to you
    • Experience as a grassroots organizer; should be adept at consulting, advising, and training others on grassroots strategies
    • Curiosity around new ways of organizing, using data, and building infrastructure for a long-term movement
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Discretion and diplomacy is a must
    • Is developing their race equity lens and experience in application of program design, decision, and engagement
    • Working knowledge of voter databases (VAN) is preferred
    • Must be willing and able to work extended hours as needed


Ideal candidates will have experience with at least four of the following:

    • Experience organizing with Planned Parenthood organizations
    • Holding others responsible to quantitative and qualitative goals
    • At least one big campaign victory in your local community – as a volunteer or staff
    • At least one cycle as staff leading field organizing on an electoral campaign
    • Working in and/or organizing for diverse communities
    • Proven success in managing a coalition and/or developing and leveraging local partner relationships

Other Requirements:

    • Passionate about the mission of Planned Parenthood and the role of health provision and advocacy
    • Knowledge of diverse groups, working with a multicultural workforce, and sensitivity and appreciation to cultural differences is essential
    • This position will need to respond to the needs of a fast-paced operation
    • Unflappable in face of crisis or high stress situations
    • Team player with strong interpersonal skills
    • Self-starter with a high level of creative initiative
    • Sense of humor


    • 50-75%
Starting Salary: $75k
Final offers for this job will be based on capabilities and will be made within the parameters of the PPFA compensation program. Total offer package to include generous vacation + sick leave + paid holidays, individual/family provided medical, dental and vision benefits effective day 1, life insurance, short/long term disability, paid family leave and 401k. We also offer voluntary opt in for Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Transportation/Commuter accounts.
